Did anyone notice the recent release of another realtime Linux variant: TimeSys Linux/RT? Here's the link:

Looks interesting. They say it takes the approach of a Linux kernel extension (possibly "tuning" similar to KURT). They're promising a
"realtime" JVM too.
Anyone know more about this?

Hi Ken
Yeah, I caught that but there's not much about it. I have been watching the whole RT/Embedded scene fairly closely lately as I am planning an embedded project. Linux is racking up an impressive number and variety of wins, enough to scare Microsoft into a flurry of FUD and advertising. In EETimes there was a large insert in the MS style, trying to look like an objective report, but with no mention of the fact that MS is a bit player and getting smaller. There's a clear acquisition fever going around. With the Transmeta stuff poised to become THE embedded
"post-pc" processor, the noise level is at an unprecedented level. The uCsimm people at RTControl got bought, Zentropix got bought, Cygnus got bought , and half a dozen new embedded linux distros have showed up in the past two weeks. Embedded Linux is so hot right now that it's hard to keep up with it all.
It is really a good idea for the project to watch these developments as they are all going in the right direction for the LPLC.
Regards
Curt Wuollet
