Pulse Input

Text :
I am connecting a coriolis meter to DCS. The coriolis meter gives a pulse output, and I am connecting the pulse output to a DCS pulse card.

Please advise if I need to do a conversion from pulse signal to 4-20ma inside the DCS logic.

    Probably not.

If the coriolis meter is putting out a _scaled_ pulse, then all you have to do is totalize. If you want to see flow rate, take the 4-20 signal from the coriolis meter separately into the DCS. If the coriolis meter is producing an unscaled frequency output, you need to condition it before using it.

Is the pulse something like 0-10,000 Hz in which case you would need a special high speed input module or more like
1 pulse for each unit that passes e.g. 1 pulse/liter in which case you would use a discrete input module with a counter in the DCS
If you give Make/Model of your transmitter someone will know it for sure!

Thanks for your response. The make of the meter is Endress & Hauser and model Promass. I am thinking of connecting to a pulse card. But, do you need to configure by software for converting pulse input to digital in the logic diagram (FLD)?
